Dick Pisciotti was first introduced to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office through the Sheriffs’ Junior Deputy Program in 1960. In 1968, Pisciotti joined the Lyons Police Department. One year later, he was hired as a Wayne County Deputy Sheriff and assigned to the Road Patrol. In 1972, he was promoted to Sergeant. One year later, he was assigned to the Detective Division and was named Chief of the Detective Division in 1979. In November 1982, he was elected Sheriff. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the National Sheriffs’ Management Institute, and past Chairman of the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Training Academy. He has served as Zone II Law Enforcement Training Coordinator, and is past President of the New York State Sheriffs’ Association. Wayne County has a population of 95,500 and an area of 621 square miles.
