Training Seminars for Newly Elected Sheriffs and New Undersheriffs

Training seminars for all newly elected Sheriffs are offered by our office each year that new Sheriffs are voted into office. The program includes a detailed review of current legal issues facing Sheriffs; a review of applicable laws, regulations and policies affecting newly-elected Sheriffs; introduction of newly-elected Sheriffs to members of state administrative agencies and agency leaders with whom Sheriffs will be dealing during their tenure as Sheriffs; introduction and review of New York State Sheriffs’ Association and our related not-for-profit corporation, the New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute, Inc.; and introduction to experienced Sheriffs in leadership positions in both organizations. The program is held in December, and we also welcome any Undersheriffs who have been designated by the Sheriff-elect.
