Sheriff Louis Falco III was elected November 08, 2011. He is a lifelong resident of Rockland County. He joined the County Sheriff’s Office in 1978 as a clerk/dispatcher. In January 1980, he accepted an appointment to the Deputy Sheriff/ Civil position and later in December 1980 was selected as a Deputy Sheriff/Patrol Officer. In 1984 Patrol Officer Falco was assigned along with Patrol Officer Peters to start the Police Division Marine Unit which took on the task of patrolling 33 miles of the Rockland County Hudson River shore line. In 1989 Patrol Officer Falco was promoted to Detective and in 1996 to the rank of Sergeant. In 1998 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and in 2005 became Detective Lieutenant. During his tenure as Detective Lieutenant he established a Video Forensic unit and a Polygraph unit which will assist all local police agencies with investigations. In December 2007 he was promoted to the rank of Captain and in March 2009 he was promoted to Chief of the Police Division. During his career Sheriff Falco worked for three different Sheriffs. He has been recognized by various community organizations and has received numerous awards from police organizations like the Elks Law Enforcement Awards Committee and the Rockland County Patrolman’s Benevolent Organization.

Rockland County has a population of 300,000 and an area of 176 square miles.
