Sheriff
Carl E. DuBois is completing a very successful first term as Orange County
Sheriff, and is planning his re-election campaign for 2006. He previously
served over 22 years with the Police Department in Middletown, NY, retiring
with the rank of Lieutenant. While with the Police Department, he graduated
from Mercy College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He also
served as a Village and Town Justice for four years prior to being elected
Sheriff.
Sheriff DuBois has served as Co-Chair and Chair of the Zone 4
Counter-Terrorism Task Force. He attended the 219th Session of the FBI
National Academy in Quantico, VA. He also attended the 89th Session National
Sheriff’s Institute in Longmont, Colorado.
Sheriff DuBois promised to bring the Sheriff’s Office into the 21st Century
and has delivered. The Sheriff’s Office has gone through major
reorganization and restructuring on all levels, culminating in December 2005
with New York State Law Enforcement Accreditation by the Division of
Criminal Justice Services.
Orange County is one of the fastest growing counties in New York State, and
has a population of approximately 350,000 and an area of 835 square miles,
and is located approximately 50 northwest of New York City. |
