Sheriff
Scott Hess of Orleans County began his career in law enforcement in 1983,
as a Patrol Officer for the Village of Albion Police Department. In 1991,
he was promoted to Sergeant and then to Lieutenant in 1994. In June of
1998, Sheriff Hess became the Acting-Chief of Police for the Village of
Albion Police Department and then served as Police Chief from October 1998
to July 2003. He was elected Sheriff in 2003. The Sheriff has received
extensive training in all aspects of law enforcement. Sheriff Hess is a
Graduate of the Central Police Services Law Enforcement Training Academy
and has an Associates Degree from Genesee Community College. He served in
the United States Air Force, 317th Transportation Unit. Orleans County has
a population of 44,000 and an area of 396 square miles.
