Sheriff
Vincent DeMarco is a life long resident of Suffolk County. He earned his
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from St. John’s University in 1991. He
began his distinguished career as a Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff in 1994.
He has been recognized in his commitment to law enforcement multiple times,
including being honored for making the most arrests in a year. Vince DeMarco
was chosen by his peers as President of the Suffolk Deputy Sheriffs’ Police
Benevolent Association in 1999. In 2005, in order to properly represent
taxpayer’s financial interests concerning the proposed construction of a new
jail, he sought the nomination for Sheriff of Suffolk County. On January 1,
2006 Sheriff DeMarco was sworn into office becoming the first uniformed
member of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office to be elected Sheriff. In
addition, he is the first enrolled Conservative Party member to win a
countywide race in Suffolk County. The Sheriff and his wife Jill reside in
Cold Spring Harbor and are the proud parents of a 17 month old son named
Jackson. The Sheriff’s Office employs 841 correction officers, 247 deputy
sheriffs and 130 civilian personnel. Suffolk County has a population of over
1.5 million and is comprised of 911 square miles. |
