Career: Sheriff Michael A. Schiff began his first term as Sullivan County Sheriff on January 1st, 2006. He was a 28-year veteran of the New York State Police, having served as a K-9 handler and firearms instructor. Sheriff Schiff spent 22 years working as a trooper in the county and the last five as a trooper handling security at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. His experience includes the 1979 prison strike, the 1980 Winter Olympics, the St. Regis Mohawk Crises, several Woodstock reunions, the World Trade Center attack on 9/11 and the Republican National Convention in New York City.  

 

Personal: Sheriff Schiff is a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. He resides in Liberty, NY with his wife and four children.
